Adopt-a-Legislator: A very successful program to expand FB’s influence and impact is the Illinois Farm Bureau's “Adopt-a-Legislator” program, where county Farm Bureaus ‘adopt’ an urban legislator from the Chicago area and develop a reciprocal relationship with that leader. The goal is to raise the legislator’s awareness and appreciation of ag issues while helping the county Farm Bureau gain insight into the legislator’s urban district and its unique characteristics.
